The Daily Mail reported "A Victorian dress made from 1,000 beetle wings that was worn by one of the most famous actresses of the era has been restored at a cost of £50,000." Yeah like I'm not going to INSTANTLY click on that link. And boy was that click worth it! The dress is AMAZING! It was one of the most celebrated theater costumes of it's time. And worn by one of England's most beloved actresses Ellen Terry, as she played Lady Macbeth at London's Lyceum Theater in 1888. It was so celebrated that is was painted by John Singer Sargent in this painting. It's funny because I've loved this image for so long and never knew the story behind it. I have no idea how this story could have possibly slipped passed me, but I am so happy I know about it now.
