Lately, I've been working on this little tiara for a customer. I am loving how it is turning out so far.
Isn't this lovely! It looks like hair pieces for paper dolls, but I've been told they are images on the latest trends in hair for the time, 1815. I guess images so your maid could imitate the fashion when dressing your hair. I just love the little sprig of greenery curved over the bun in the middle one. Very chic!
This was a fun commission, and something I have not been asked to do before. An October bride came to me a few months ago wishing to commission a wedding set, (earrings and a necklace), in black but with purple crystals. She was very specific about the color which is a gorgeous color of purple, almost an Alexandrite color. The only issue is, is that there are two types of crystals I use on my items, flat back and montee. Montee crystals are the ones that are in a setting. Unfortunately, the color she wanted doesn't come in a Montee, and you really can't exchange one for the other in certain designs. So I was able to come up with a way to change the color of the crystals. And actually they look a lot more sparkly, and do change color in the light just like Alexandrites do. So I was VERY pleased. And so was she. She came back a couple of weeks ago for a matching tiara.
I was just playing with google for a little bit trying to find more pretty pictures of the various Great Expectation that have been released in the last ten years. And slowly a pattern started emerging of amazing hair do's in the various movies. They really are wondrous things so I have to place a list of my favorites here for posterity.
Gillian Anderson as Miss Havisham in BBC version of Great Expectations, why did no one tell me about this!?!?!
I had no idea this was happening!!! Evidently BBC is making a rendition of Great Expectations with Gillian Anderson as Miss Havisham. And just look at her in the costume! Doesn't she look AMAZING!!! I just recently caught the Great Expectations with Helena Bonham Carter on Netflix. That one was lovely, but this one looks fantastic as well. And really... you just can't have too many Miss Havisham's. I think it is so funny how her character has progressed though the years from a withered old woman to almost a sexy ghost. But, seriously that dress is to DIE for! If I had any extra time this year it would all be put to making this my Halloween costume.
I've been working on finishing up this sweet little petite tiara today. I've been re-reading The Night Circus to get me in the mood for Fall, and this little guy just sprang to life because of it. I call it Rêveurs Delight.
